- What are you learning about in math?
Language Arts
Reading - We are working hard on our kindergarten sight word recognition. An assessment went home this week with your child. If your child missed any sight words, please help at home. We will be starting our first grade sight words soon!
Writing - We will work on the mechanics of writing. We will concentrate on writing sentences by using a complete thought or idea. We are using capital letters to start a sentence and punctuation to end it. We will also be working on finger spaces and our best handwriting.
Phonics - We will in continue our phonics study with our Heggerty Curriculum. We will learn how to break words apart into individual phonemes and put words together to form compound words. We will also continue to work on rhyming words.
Math
In math, learners are working on creating graphs to show information in a clear and organized way. They will learn how to make both picture graphs and bar graphs, using data they collect. Students will also add titles and labels to their graphs so they make sense to others.
As they practice, learners will use their graphs to answer questions and draw conclusions. This helps them see patterns, compare information, and think more critically about data.
We will identify characteristics of good citizenship, including truthfulness, justice, equality, respect for oneself and others and responsibility in daily life.
- Please make sure to look at your child's daily behavior calendar. If you see a teacher comment, we would love for you to have a conversation with your child about what happened to receive the comment. Please know many warnings were given before a comment was written. :-) If the day is colored green or does not have any color (they often forget to color it) then it was a great day for them!
- Please review and take out all papers from their take-home folder each day.
The best way to get in touch with your teacher is by email. Please email the teacher that can best answer the subject of your question. If it is a general question, please email your homeroom teacher.

Beginning on OCTOBER 3rd, immediate families will be able to eat lunch with their child at school on Fridays.
District guidelines limit lunchroom visitors at the elementary level to parents, immediate family members with written permission from a parent, and campus mentors. Immediate family members are defined as the student’s parents/step-parents, siblings, grandparents, or any person residing in the home. A parent can list the person(s) who have permission to have lunch for the entire school year. If anyone other than the parent(s) listed as guardians in our district e-school system is eating with the child, we will need written documentation of your approval.
Dismissal
If you change the way your child goes home at the end of the day, please email your teacher. Children will be sent home their "usual" way unless we hear directly from a parent. Also, please make sure that the teacher has responded to your email to ensure that we got the message. If you don't hear back from your teacher, please call the office to let them know about dismissal changes.
Absences
Attendance is taken at 10:00 daily. If your child is absent you will need to fill out the following form: CLICK HERE. This form must be filled out each time your child is absent. Please make sure you fill out this form with each absence.
Birthday Treats
We will celebrate your child’s birthday with a spotlight on our daily school-wide announcements and a goody bag from the school that contains several items, including a coupon for a free treat in the cafeteria. If you choose to send birthday food treats to school, they will need to be store bought and in their original packaging that lists the ingredients. Please send the treats to our school nurse. She will look over the ingredients and then deliver them to your child's homeroom class. These treats will be eaten at school. Please have all treats brought to school first thing in the morning. Also, please do not send goodie bags to pass out. Birthday invitations are only able to be passed out at school by the teacher if the entire class is invited. Teachers will also not be able to forward digital invitations as school e-mails are only allowed to be used for school business.
Volunteering
If you think you would like to volunteer at TCE this year, please fill out the volunteer background check. The sooner the better! You can find information about how to fill out the form and the actual form on our TCE webpage. This needs to be done each. year. You will need a background check to help in the classroom, field trips, field day, etc.
Photos From The Week
We have had many parent inquiries to see if their child's picture can be shared in this blog but not choose "all" on their photo disclosure. Unfortunately we will not be able to do this. Although we do not share pictures on social media sites, we cannot guarantee that this blog will not be shared with other people. Your child will only be able to be featured in weekly pictures if you choose "all" on your photo disclosure.
We are ready for class pictures! |
